Oak Alley Plantation will have access to the gift shop, restrooms, and museum via a ramp. The plantation grounds are accessible; however, there are narrow and uneven dirt paths.
Oak Alley is a sugar plantation; an abandoned investment property; a cattle ranch; a landscape of defiance in the face of the Army Corps of Engineers–Oak Alley has been many things in its over 200 years of history. Today it is a historic site, dedicated to preserving and interpreting each chapter of this plantation’s memory.
Open to the public since 1976, our institutional values include complete respect for the National Landmark with which we have been entrusted. This not only is evident in our dedication to its preservation and maintenance but in our complete adherence to narrative integrity, in deference to this iconic historic site whose past includes serving as a place of enslavement even as it was celebrated for its stunning landscape.
Whitney Plantation (legal name The Whitney Institute) is a non-profit museum dedicated to the history of the Whitney Plantation, which operated from 1752-1975 and produced indigo, sugar, and rice as its principal cash crops.
The museum preserves more than a dozen historical structures, many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Whitney Plantation Historic District.

Select your hotel pick-up location. Please be OUTSIDE and ready for pick-up (9:30–10:00AM) when the driver arrives, keeping in mind that buses have no parking areas and will be allowed to stop only momentarily for pick-ups. Due to traffic delays and the number of stops, we ask that you be outside and ready for this 30-minute period.
The plantations require the bus driver to assist with ticket distribution at arrival. Transportation times are approximate and are not guaranteed due to potential traffic or weather delays. Our drivers do their very best to stay on schedule.
Children must be supervised at all times in the ticket office/gift shop. Be aware of your surroundings for safety.
Double plantation tours are offered once per day with set tour times assigned by the plantations; times cannot be changed. Transportation times are approximate and may be affected by traffic or weather. Buses have no parking areas and will stop only momentarily for pick-ups. Photography is not allowed inside the Oak Alley mansion.
Restrictions
Proper attire required (shirt and shoes). No offensive language or imagery. No revealing/cheeky shorts or similar attire.
Itinerary
After the driver checks you in on the bus and the 30-minute pick up is done you’ll enjoy 55 minutes to hour 15 minute ride over bayou’s, swamps, lake Ponchartrain and cross over the Mississippi River to start your tour at Oak Alley where you will have time to walk the grounds and time to eat and get drinks at they’re bars after 2 hours at oak alley we will bring you on to Whitney Plantation for 2 hours then we will pick you back up and return you back to your pick up location.
Guest drop-off is between 11:00-11:15AM for a 11:45AM scheduled tour time. The plantations require our bus driver to assist in the check-in process for ticket distribution.
Bus pick-up for transfer to Whitney Plantation is at 1:15PM
for a 2:15PM tour
Guest drop off 1:30-1:45PM the Whitney plantation tour time is at 2:15PM. The plantations set the assigned tour times, and we are unable to deviate from these times.
Pick-up from Whitney Plantation will be at 4:00PM
Hotel drop-off is between 5:00-5:30PM.
