Explore Oak Alley Plantation, A National Historic Landmark. This historic site is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history its inhabitants left behind. With an emphasis on its time as a working sugarcane plantation, visitors are invited to experience the exhibits, walk under the iconic Allée, interact with staff, and leave with a richer, more powerful understanding of this plantation’s history. Photography is not allowed inside the mansion.
Explore St. Joseph Plantation, one of the few fully intact sugar plantations in the River Parishes offering a full historical timeline from the homes’ construction to the present day. In addition to the Manor Home, this historic site features many outbuildings for guests to explore. These include original slave cabins, a detached kitchen, blacksmith’s shop, school house, and chicken coop. Several buildings have been moved to their present day location from other parts of the property, but most remain where they were built. Visitors often recognize familiar scenes and landscapes having served as the setting for well-known films and shows like The Skeleton Key, the Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave, Mudbound, Underground, Roots, and Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar.
Combination tours are offered only one time per day. The pick-up window is between 10:30-11:00AM. Please be OUTSIDE and ready for pick-up when the driver arrives, keeping in mind that buses have no parking areas and will be allowed to stop only momentarily for pick-ups. Due to traffic delays and the number of stops, we ask that you be outside and ready for this 30-minute period.

Highlights
Oak Alley Plantation
History, architecture, beauty and iconic oak-lined esplanades can be found at the historical Oak Alley Plantation situated on the legendary River Road. Built in 1837-39. It is famous for its’ alley of 28 evenly spaced Live Oak trees, believed to be at least 100 years older than the big house.
During the approximate 30-minute tour, enjoy a professionally guided tour of the “Big House” conducted by expert guides in period costumes. Learn about the plantation’s fascinating – and yet often somber – history. Photography is not allowed inside the mansion.
Cajun Pride Swamp Tours
For many years people have traveled extensively to locate a unique and exciting adventure exploring Louisiana’s back country with its meandering bayous and swamps that you can only experience here – the historical Manchac Swamp. We invite you to join us for an educational journey back to the early days of Louisiana bayou and swamp explorations.
Swamp creatures, seeing our boats daily, recognize them as part of their normal environment. Unafraid and responsive to their boat captain’s call, they peek out from underbrush and between moss-draped trees and shrubs, frequently coming directly to the boat. In the safety and comfort of the boat, you can actually come within a few feet of jumping alligators.
As your boat drifts through the waterways, you will learn about the Louisiana Wetlands, the inhabitants of the swamp, particularly the life and habits of the American Alligator, as well as the unique history of the Cajun town of Frenier within the Manchac Swamp.

- Upon arrival, please proceed directly UPSTAIRS to check-in and obtain an entrance ticket. An entrance ticket is required in order to tour the swamp.
- Please be aware of your surroundings at all times.
- Children must be supervised at all times in the ticket office/gift shop and on swamp property for safety reasons.
FAQ
Is there an alligator on the boat? Why is there gauze around the alligator’s mouth and will it harm the alligator? Are children allowed to touch or hold live animals?
We do have live alligators and sometimes rescued animals on the boats. Anytime an alligator is presented, the mouth will have loose athletic gauze around the mouth for safety reasons. We follow strict guidelines and have proper permits in order to have an alligator on tour. Alligators are very precious to us, and we handle them with the utmost care and respect rotating them throughout the day for their comfort. At the discretion of our captains, all toddlers/children (up to approximately age 6) must be sitting on a parent’s lap or seated in order to touch or hold any live animal. The captain will have the final say if he will allow anyone of any age to hold our animals to maintain the animals’ comfort and trust.

Restrictions
We are a family establishment, and proper attire is required including shirt and shoes. No offensive language or imagery. No booty/cheeky shorts. No swimsuits or similar attire.
Itinerary
After leaving the city at 11:00AM, our buses arrive at the swamp at approximately 11:30AM. Upon arrival, please proceed directly upstairs to obtain an entrance ticket. An entrance ticket is required in order to tour the swamp.
Guests will have 15-30 minutes of free time to enjoy the grounds at Cajun Pride, browse the gift shop or use the restroom.
Boats leave promptly at 12:00PM for a 90-minute narrated boat tour of the Manchac Swamp.
Buses depart the swamp between 1:35-1:45PM for a 35-minute drive to the plantations.
Guest drop-off is between 2:15-2:30PM for a scheduled tour time. The plantations require our bus driver to assist in the check-in process for ticket distribution.
St. Joseph tour time is 3:00PM; Oak Alley tour time is 3:30PM. The plantations set the assigned tour times, and we are unable to deviate from these times.
Bus pick-up for transfer back to the city is 4:15-4:30PM at St. Joseph; 4:30-4:45PM at Oak Alley.
Hotel drop-off is between 5:30-6:15PM.
Transportation times are approximate and are not guaranteed due to potential traffic or weather delays. Our drivers do their very best to stay on schedule.
