Kayak to Popoi`a Island bird sanctuary! Ideal for beginners looking for a kayaking tour with the safety of a guide in sea turtle feeding grounds. Complete with lunch, use of snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs and everything else you need before and after the tour!
What to bring
Guests will get wet, so please come prepared.
We sell all of the following items at a discount for tour guests:
- Bathing suit
- Footwear, such as sandals with straps or water shoes
- Towels
- Change of clothes
- Reef-safe sunscreen
- Sunglasses and eyeglass retainers
We have a full-service water sports shop with everything you might need, discounted for tour customers.

Restrictions
- All participants must be able to swim. No exceptions.
- Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Itinerary
Check-In
Arrive 15 minutes before your tour time or earlier to enjoy beach time, including snorkeling and beach gear, before the tour.
If you are joining the 1:15 PM tour, we suggest arriving at 10:00 AM if you wish to enjoy snorkeling and lunch before the tour.
Meet your guide and prepare for the trip.
Tour Start
Guide Briefing / Trip Overview
Duration: ~20 minutes
Transport Kayaks to Water
Duration: ~10 minutes
Wheel the kayaks on the provided carts down to the beach and into the water, where your guide will meet you.
Kayak to Popoi’a
Duration: ~35 minutes
Kayak through sea turtle feeding grounds as you navigate 1/2 mile out to the coral reef sanctuary.
Island Eco Tour
Duration: ~45 minutes
Enjoy a guided walk around the seabird sanctuary. Discover nesting seabirds, native plant species, geological marvels, and learn about local history during this interactive tour.
Return Kayaks
Duration: ~30 minutes
Enjoy the tradewinds express as you kayak back, then wheel the kayaks back to our shop. Showers and changing rooms are available.
Beach and Lunch Time
Debrief with your guide and enjoy a choice of 3 local lunch options, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
You may also use snorkels, bikes, and boogie boards from our shop for the rest of the day. Depart at your leisure.
Important Notes
Beach and lunch time can be switched with the kayaking portion if your tour is after 10:30 AM.
We close at 5:00 PM, so please check in early if you would like to enjoy beach time, snorkeling, or boogie boarding before joining our 1:15 PM tour or later.
